I’m Vanessa - one of the owners of Plus Tutor alongside my husband, Mark. I am also one of the tutors who work with key stage one, two & three children. I am a fully qualified teacher with over seven years experience in the classroom & a further three in private tuition. I graduated Liverpool John Moore’s University with a first-class honours degree in Psychology and went on to complete my PGCE at Edge Hill. Following this I worked as a primary school teacher in Liverpool until I had my little girl and this was when I opened Plus Education in Crosby with my husband. I am passionate about providing alternative learning provisions and opportunities for students. Tutoring on a one to one basis allows me to tailor every lesson so that students build confidence and have solid foundations to tackle problems independently in the future. I believe that making my students feel safe and forming a strong initial bond is key to successful learning. Outside of tuition, you will probably find me with my two beautiful girls! I am so excited and looking forward to helping you all in a new way.

Hi, I'm Lauren, and I specialise in tutoring Primary Tuition as well as Secondary English. I have been tutoring since completing my PGCE in primary education at the University of Chester and gaining my QTS. As a teacher with dyslexia, I am enthusiastic to work with children in an engaging, creative and personalised environment in which their confidence can grow and they feel fewer barriers to learning. I enjoy tutoring in person in the calm environment at Plus Education as I have access to lots of concrete resources to support my students' individual needs. From having a Maths tutor myself for GCSE, I understand the confidence it can give to a young person and how it can consolidate the school learning creating an environment for no ‘stupid questions’, only support. I am excited to work with your child to push them to achieve every milestone, however big or small.

My name is Julia and I am a teacher of 30 years experience, having taught every year group from 3-11. Consequently, I know where your child should be and where they need to get to, and would be able to provide the necessary steps for them to confidently achieve this. I would go from the needs of your child, (whether it be SEN - dyslexia, ASD, ADHD, gifted and talented, or they just need some extra support) and structure their learning in a fun, engaging manner. I would use a variety of resources and methods that are best suited to your child, so that they feel confident and WANT to learn. If it's handwriting, Maths basic number and problems, English grammar and comprehension, phonics or anything you feel you child needs at Primary level, I'm your person!

I am currently a student at Liverpool John Moores University, and I specialise in GCSE maths tutoring, being a GCSE and A-level maths student recently myself, I am familiar with the curriculum and ways of learning that many students will experience. I believe that my A-level qualification provides me with a strong ability to give pupils the best understanding of topics they struggle with and see these topics in a clearer way. I personally know the great impact that a positive attitude and a personal way of learning can have for students, and I try to provide this for each of my pupils to help them achieve their goals.
